Aya El-Khouly is a Senior Sustainability Consultant at GreeNexus, bringing extensive experience managing green building certifications and guiding multidisciplinary project teams toward high-performance, regenerative outcomes. She has worked across federal, municipal, industrial, and commercial sectors, supporting clients pursuing LEED, Arc Performance, Fitwel, and other third-party rating systems.
Before joining GreeNexus, Aya held sustainability consulting roles where she supported integrated design strategies, conducted building performance assessments, and helped teams navigate complex certification pathways. Earlier in her career, she also led operations for a wastewater-treatment research program, developing sampling and analysis protocols to support publication-driven and grant-funded research.
At GreeNexus, Aya manages certification processes from onboarding through final review for programs including LEED, SITES, WELL, Fitwel, and the Living Building Challenge. She conducts early design assessments, reviews drawings and specifications, coordinates client meetings, performs on-site verifications, and supports documentation quality control. She is committed to advancing green building practices, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to GreeNexus’ collaborative, people-centered culture.
Aya holds a degree in Biological Engineering and maintains LEED AP BD+C and ID+C accreditations. She is driven by a passion for sustainability, technical excellence, and creating healthier, more resilient environments for communities.
